Grammar Time: Noun Jobs
/From the beginning, Shurley English teaches students to understand the role that each word plays in a sentence. The first part of speech we begin with is the noun, and in true Shurley style, we start by going over the Noun Jingle. The jingle and corresponding lesson teach that a noun names a person, place, thing, or idea.
As students progress through the curriculum, their knowledge deepens as they are introduced to more and more noun jobs. Locating nouns by their noun job is one of the unique ways Shurley English curriculum helps students identify nouns; they learn to go to the noun jobs.
